Abstract:
Ultrasonic non-destructive testing process is one of the promising techniques in the field of structural analysis of materials especially metals. Ultrasonic testing involves different noises that hamper the detection of defects and their characteristics. Several signal processing techniques for de-noising and weld defect detection such as slag, porosity, LF, LP, etc., have been proposed of which Discrete Wavelet Transform is more popular. One important aspect of DWT is the choice of the mother wavelet. This study presents a comparative study of the performance in de-noising using different mother wavelets.
