Abstract:

In this study, the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method is applied to solve the optimal capacitor placement problem in electric distribution systems. An effective and simple power flow method used with the ACO is tested on the 9-bus test system. The obtained capacitor placement results using ACO are compared with other optimization methods.
