Present research was aimed at studying seed storage protein profiles of eleven released
varieties / genotypes of rice (Oryza sativa) in Pakistan using SDS-PAGE analysis. Lower - medium level of
genetic polymorphism (G.D. = 0 - 0.8) w as estimated in the material. Six comparisons showed complete
homozygosity (G.D. = 0%) for seed storage protein profile while one comparison (Basmathi - 385 - Local rice
from Swat) showed maximum genetic difference (G.D. = 80%). Remaining comparisons showed varying
degree of genetic differences ranging from 20-70%. |
